Christmas Time-A Time of Too Much Information

This life makes us heavy-headed. Our wonderful gift of intelligence, marred by the knowledge of good and evil, suffers from TMI.  Too much information.  We can't help it. Life happens. Our brains are full of rabbit holes and like Alice we just can't stop ourselves from falling into the wanderland of thoughts-what ifs, how can, I could, I can't, maybe, if only, how come, I'll just, I know, I can't figure it out, I know what's going on here......until our head begins to droop and sag under the weight of all the stuff on our mind.

When our head is hanging we can't see correctly. Our view is distorted and the signpost to peace and life in The Spirit is out of sight. All we can see is the intersection of disoriented and bewildered; unclear and perplexed; confused and unsure-we're just plain lost.

When our head is weighted down we are in a perfect postition to look right into our heart. A hanging head is a Divine change in perspective!  Look into you heart!  There is a Weight Lifter in there!  He's strong and never tires. He doesn't think like we think. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. We are in a perfect postion to just turn our eyes upon Jesus and look full in His wonderful face.  Just look. Don't do. Don't think. Don't try. Don't study. Don't praise. We would have to use our heavy heads to do that. Seeing requires no thought, just open eyes.
In our heart we will see our Savior.

The supernatural wouldn't be supernatural if we could understand what it is or how it accomplishes what it accomplishes.  Jesus is supernatural. We can never predict how He will change our thoughts, what paths He will lead us down, what revelations He will impart, but we know this-He is The Lifter of our heads.  Our head is not too heavy for Him. Our thoughts, our burdens are no match for His Divine muscle. He's been lifting weights a long, long time.

Looking at Jesus supernaturally restores the picture of our innocence before Him and allows the eyes of our Spirit to see His loving face gazing into ours.  Being restored to an awareness of being first and foremost His beloved child changes us, and as if coming out of a fog, or a bad dream we discover our thoughts being elevated as well.  Our troubles vanish, our hearts are mended in the Presence of Jesus.

Christmas is a time of joy, but it is also a time of burdens, anxiety, pressure and need. Life circumstances that seem heavy at other times of the year can become crippling at Christmas. How ironic that this world has so distorted Christmas that the great occasion of God With Us, a time when our eyes should see nothing but Him, is twisted into a time that can cause our thoughts to become so heavy we can no longer hold up our heads.

Rest beloved. Jesus is The Lifter of our Head, and no view is better than the view from within our hearts of His love poured endlessly upon us. Take advantage of your nose being pressed into your solar plexus! Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace!
